|| About Aria Dolente ||

Aria Dolente means 'sad song' in italian, the universal language of the music. I had no deeper reason when choosing the name other than the sound - it sounded good for my ears, euphonic, and i had never seen a site named like that. Besides, i like sad songs...

Since it's very beginning - June 2004 - Aria Dolente has been kindly hosted by Digital-Wing. First, the site was meant to be just a place for me to show my artwork; not all of it, but the ones i liked most. Kind of a portfolio. Later, i decided to share some of the Photoshop brushes i had created for myself, maybe someone would be interested. The site's first version, "Scorpio", has been the only one so far to feature a piece of artwork. I like my art, but apparently it doesn't make nice layouts, lol!
The second version, "Seafaring", was inspired by a picture taken during a trip of mine to Búzios, a beach in Rio de Janeiro. I love the colors, but unfortunately, the PS filter used to make this effect was just a try-out version, so i don't have it anymore =(! It's one of the layouts i had a pain in my heart when i decided to change it!
The third version, called "Eirenism" was never planed. I found a beautiful picture of a moth and...suddenly, it showed up in my Photoshop! It is, i believe, the most elegant version my site ever met.
"Miss Death" was the fourth version of my site and it...lasted a LOT. Too much i think. It was cute, and used the art from a tarot card: "Death" of the "Tarot Art Nouveau" published by Lo Scarabeo, illustrated by Antonella Castelli. But it was sorta...boring. The most interesting thing about it - and certainly the one that i spent more time working on - was the strand of the death lady's hair that 'floated' over the text. Phew, i thought i would never finish it!
And...i can't believe we are on the fifth version of Aria Dolente! The layout this time is very simple...and green. The picture used is the painting 'Magdalene', that is believed to be an work by Leonardo DaVinci. Thus, this version has been baptized with the name of the piece that inspired it.

Aria Dolente has already THREE years of life! Let's hope it's a LONG life indeed!
